Community Outreach
VolunteerFest at Brock University 2011
On September 16, 2011, Theresa Bell, Sue Moskal, Donna Murray and Gloria Meyer attended Brock University’s Volunteer Fest on behalf of the Guild. This was a new venture for Brock to add to their annual Volunteer Fest. They wanted to try some “hands-on” volunteering on the spot. Other agencies were also in attendance, for students to get information on volunteering year-round.
A pieced, simple quilt top that was prepared ahead of time was available for students to stop by and try their hand at tying a quilt. As well, students were asked to decorate a white quilt square with messages of encouragement, artwork etc. which were included in a second quilt top. This will be tied at a later time. Both of these quilts will be donated to the YWCA Women’s shelter on behalf of the students at Brock and the Guild.

Quilts for Others
The Niagara Heritage Quilters'
Guild has been busy making quilts that will be given to families
in need in the Niagara Region. This last year, quilts were delivered to Gillian's Place as well.
Workshops have and are continually being held to complete more
projects for this purpose.

Meals On Wheels Project:
Meals On Wheels project has been extended to the 2008
Christmas project. Guild Members will make quilted placemats again this year.
In previous years, these placemats have been greatly appreciated by the MOW clients.
The Guild has decided to make this another of its annual projects. |
